These Finn Soldiers haven't yet traded their bikes for snow skis. Bikes were used until the snow was too deep to peddle through it.

The text "Kivennapa k.k." in this photo likely tells the place it was taken. "Kivennapa kansakoulu" aka "elementary school in town of Kivennapa (in Karelian Isthmus)" - Jarkko V.

The text "JR 49 Navalla" translates as "Infantry Regiment 49 in Napa". "Napa" being likely the nickname of Kivennapa.  - Jarkko V.
