The requirements for joining this group are not complex. There is a 20.00 fee (1 years dues) which will cover your paperwork and Soldier's Pass Book which will be sent to you in the mail.

In order to participate in the unit reenactments, you must also be a member of the 20th CTSG as well as a member of KevOs4.  Dues are 20.00. Contact them by mail to get a registration form. The latest mailing address for the 20th Century Tactical Studies Group is 1667 Rice St., Waukegan, Il 60087.  Contact us for more details. We will send you all necessary information.

The Finnish uniform pants and tunic can be purchased from several locations (see the links page) and we can help you acquire these items. We are having a number of the uniforms made here in the U.S. specifically for re-enacting events. They are near-perfect reproductions and can be found by contacting us directly. Also see the "Links Page" for a dealer for the proper Mosin Nagant Rifle.

Several outfits carry repro boots. Helmets must be the real deal, as well as weapons. Reproduction m36 hats are available if you choose to wear one of these instead of a helmet. In fact, this was frequently the choice of the actual soldiers in the field.

Our goal is to provide the reenacting / living history community with the most accurate representation of a WWII Finnish Light Infantry unit that is humanly possible. This high degree of historical accuracy (or "authenticity" as it's known within the reenacting community) primarily covers physical appearance, uniform and equipment items, knowledge of Finnish contributions to WWII history, WWII Finnish combat tactics, field-craft, and Finnish language skills.

A potential recruit must have an extremely well developed interest in Finnish military history and be willing to learn. It's not enough to be merely interested in WW II history, or military uniforms, or historical firearms. You must have a passion for this specific field of interest because the WW II Finnish light infantry impression, though not the most expensive and difficult to obtain, is most unique among all of the axis or allied impressions just as Finland's military situation was during World War 2.  And it doesn't make sense to invest a lot of money for reenacting an impression in which you hold only a nominal interest. In order to reach the goal printed above, we screen all potential applicants to ensure that they:

* DO NOT maintain political beliefs that are racist, anti-Semitic, white supremacist, etc. nor will these beliefs be tolerated in this unit.
* Have a highly developed interest in (and knowledge of) the WW II Finnish Army or will be willing to expand the knowledge you already have.
* Understand that annual dues are $20.00
* Must be in good health and physical condition.
* Agree to abide by the unit standards for quality of uniforms, equipment, rank, and badges or medals.
* Attend (at a minimum) the two WW II living history or historical displays which are deemed "Kev Os 4 100% attendance" events in their region. As of now, we have units in the Southeast, Midwest, Texas and California. More will be added at a later time.
* Agree to learn (at the very least) a minimal amount of prescribed Finnish military commands, phrases, traditional soldiers' songs, and combat tactics.

Other people may join as auxiliary members. Any adult can become an auxiliary member if you are interested in making a contribution toward this unit.  A formal support unit has not been set up at this time, but if sufficient interest is shown one can be started.  All auxiliary members will be held to the same standards of authenticity during any event in which they participate.

It takes time and effort for recruits to become productive members of the group.  We have a great e-mail list for communication.  It is used to show you the ropes, get you acquainted with our unit standards & policies, develop your knowledge of the Finnish WW2 impression, and provide guidance for kit item purchases. We are always interested in bringing in quality recruits, but please understand that it takes a lot of time on our part as well as your part to get started on the right foot.

If you believe that you meet these initial requirements, then feel free to inquire further about Kev. Os. 4 membership requirements and unit standards.
